Welcome to Georgian Bay Reads
The premiere literary event along the South Georgian Bay Shore for 15 years.
Your five local libraries – Clearview Public Library, Collingwood Public Library, Meaford Public Library, Springwater Township Public Library, and Wasaga Beach Public Library – are pleased to present an evening of laughter and spirited debate as their Defenders engage in a fast-paced discussion to prove that their book deserves the title of Georgian Bay Reads.
Hosted by Springwater Township Public Library, join us at the Elmvale Community Hall, 33 Queen St. West, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. for the next installment of this beloved event.
During the four rounds of the event, each author/defender answers questions regarding their chosen book, critiques the others, and sets up alliances to determine which book stays, and which book goes. Witticisms and wisecracks fly as each defender attempts to prove why their book is the best. Time is limited so beware the bell! Defenders vote off their least favourite book each round, highlighted by a dramatic take down of the book’s cover poster. Four rounds later, with two books left the Georgian Bay Reads winner will be declared when all defenders vote.
The coveted People’s Choice Award is voted on by the audience during intermission. Audience members have often been swayed by the arguments posed during the first two rounds, or by the intricately decorated ballot box for each title.
