What is Georgian Bay Reads?
Your five local libraries, Clearview Public Library, Collingwood Public Library, Meaford Public Library, Springwater Township Public Library and Wasaga Beach Public Library are pleased to present an evening of laughter and debate as their Defenders participate in a high paced discussion to prove that THEIR book is the best and deserves the title of Georgian Bay Reads.
In these times of continuing chaos and cancelled events, the organizers of the annual Georgian Bay Reads event took a moment to revisit the WHY and the reason for creating this showcase for Canadian literature. One of the original reasons was to create connections and to build bridges between the 5 library communities around Southern Georgian Bay. A secondary reason was and is to promote great stories found in the libraries located in the municipalities of Meaford, Collingwood, Clearview, Wasaga Beach and Springwater. The third component was and is to stage some illustrious literary theatre and to host a party in celebration of the annual Ontario Public Library Week that takes place every October. The 2022 event is our 13th annual, although this is the 14th year of Georgian Bay Reads. This year, Georgian Bay Reads will be back in person at the award winning Stayner Branch of the Clearview Public Library. This event continues to promise laughs, literature, and fun, plus our popular People’s Choice Award will continue.
